A Snack for Viewing The World Cup Semi-Final:
Argentinian Picada
I am going to “fess up” now, I am not a Football follower or fan, I watch Rugby Union and Cricket, but not football! So, I hope all footie fans are still talking to me now…….however, I am interested in the World Cup insofar that it’s nice to discover different cuisines that can be enjoyed during this football fest……and as today is the semi-final between The Netherlands and Argentina, I thought I would share a FABULOUS snacking platter that I was commissioned to develop for Great British Chefs recently – Argentinian Picada – a large sharing platter comprising cured and cooked meats, olives, cheese, pickled vegetables, little pastries such as empanadas and empanadillas as well as fresh tomatoes and onions.

Chorizo Empanadillas
This easy and fun to assemble platter would be the perfect snack late night World Cup viewing tonight and it’s also a fabulous recipe to have tucked up your culinary sleeve for any summer parties or large picnic gatherings. I had such fun assembling my Picada platter and the little Chorizo Empanadillas are also very easy to make and have a certain South American and Hispanic air to them! As well as these two easy no-cook and low-cook recipes, I also have another fabulous recipe to share from Great British Chefs for Spicy Gammon Enchiladas as well as some more little pies that would be perfect for a TV snack, Mini Gammon and Cheese Galettes…..any one or two of these recipes would make an ideal “snackage” platter for tonight’s semi-final or even for the final on Sunday.

Gammon and Cheese Galettes
As I am featuring a World Cup country and that country is playing today, I am also entering my Argentinian Picada recipe into Chris’s Bloggers Around the World: World Cup 2014 Challenge! The recipe isn’t Brazilian, but is a recipe to celebrate Argentina’s progression to the semi-finals……and is allowed by all accounts! That’s it for today, please pop back for my NEXT Newfoundland Travel Stories instalment with a traditional Newfoundland recipe, as well as a NEW giveaway and a couple of reviews…….Good Luck to BOTH teams tonight too! Karen

What a lovely spread. I have a gang of boys coming over tonight to watch the game so this would be perfect. Only prob is I don’t have the ingredients. Now do I get to the shops now or not…..
