Robert Welch Bright Cutlery
I’ve had the same cutlery now for over 12 years, and so it was definitely time for a change! Today’s review and recipe post is all about Elegant Cutlery and Beef Brisket Pot Roast! I was sent 3 sets of beautiful Robert Welch cutlery recently, which has graced my kitchen and dining room tables ever since it arrived…….the 3 designs I was sent to review, use and enjoy are: Hidcote Bright Cutlery, an elegantly tapering pattern inspired by natural forms as seen in Hidcote Manor gardens; Kingham Bright Cutlery, named after the pretty Cotswold village of the same name, which exhibits a clean, elegant profile and a contemporary classic aesthetic and Bourton Bright Cutlery, named after another Cotswold village, Bourton-on-the-Water, which has a soft sleek profile and elliptical detailing at the neck. All 3 sets are beautifully designed and are made using the highest quality 18/10 stainless steel with a very impressive 25 year guarantee.
I loved all the designs, especially the Arts and Crafts set, Hidcote, but for Sunday Lunch I decided to set the table with Kingham, which seemed to fit in with the pot roast beef that I served! All of the designs looked and felt like top quality cutlery, with a nice “weight” and “balance” when using them, and they all looked so elegant, as you’ll see from the photos here. A 24-piece set will cost you £90 and you will get 6 knives, 6 forks, 6 spoons and 6 teaspoons, with all of the designs having a mirror-polished finish which is from specially hardened stainless steel. The designs are also available in 42-piece sets (£150), 56-piece sets (£195), and in an 84-piece set for £275. I loved the classic and yet contemporary style of them all, and they would make wonderful wedding, house-warming or anniversary presents for all ages.
I’m also happy to say, that all Lavender and Lovage readers will receive £25 off all orders over £100 by using the special code I’m going to share below! So, whether you want to upgrade your old cutlery as I did, buy a gift for someone or whether you need to change the cutlery to match a newly decorated kitchen or dining room, I’m sure that one of these beautifully designed sets of cutlery by Robert Welch will be perfect. As I served a lovely Pot Roast Beef for Sunday Lunch with my newly acquired cutlery, I’m sharing some lovely family beef recipes below. That’s all for today, have a great week and I’ll be back soon with more bespoke recipes, reviews and travel stories, Karen

Designing the Robert Welch way
When Robert Welch left the Royal College of Art in 1955, he set up with just his drawing board and a camp bed in a little rented room in a disused workshop in the 18th century Silk Mill at Chipping Campden in the English Cotswold Hills.
It was an inauspicious start for a man whose strong design principles would make him an MBE and a Royal Designer for Industry.
From the start, Robert was passionately driven to design highly functional, affordable products which possessed a timeless elegant beauty. He demonstrated this with his first major success – pioneering the introduction of stainless steel cutlery to the UK.
He steadily gained a reputation for excellence in both design and manufacture which lead to a constant stream of commissions – both commercial and privately from celebrities and royalty.
Over 20 years later, Alice Welch and Rupert Welch still manage Robert Welch Designs, working with a small team of in-house designers to produce a growing collection of award-winning products. Remaining true to their father’s design legacy brings a sense of continuity to the modern company.
Today’s Robert Welch team are fortunate enough to still be working in the same building where it all began 60 years ago. Robert Welch’s passion to create beautiful, functional, timeless products remains rooted in the company’s design DNA, ensuring his memory lives on and that every new product continues to be ‘Designed the Robert Welch way’.
