Feel the spirit of the north

In a few days time, I will be on a Viking Cruise In Search of the Northern Lights, and I cannot wait! It’s my first long press trip in over 2 years.

I will be flying out to Bergen and the sailing up to the Arctic Circle, in search of those elusive, magical and mesmerising lights.

Here’s what I can expect on the cruise, as taken from the Viking brochure:

Experience a land where dawn and twilight merge on the edges of the long Arctic night. Cruising far north in Norway’s winter, witness what few others see: wondrous snow-dusted landscapes, cities hushed in slumber and the luminous aurora borealis dancing in the sky. Sami legends, a sled dog ride and mysterious rock carvings bring you close to your destination. Join us on this truly illuminating cruise.

I have all my excursions booked – from a Reindeer sleigh ride, enjoying food and stories around a camp with the Sami people to dogsled rides, I’m going to embrace it all!

Plus, I cannot wait to enjoy all of the amazing food onboard Viking Venus, as she sails to the top of the world.

So, look out for some new travel posts over the next few weeks, along with some new Norwegian recipes, as I’ll be taking my recipe notebook with me.

In the first instance, I will be sharing all my images and daily stories on my social media platforms, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

I’ve travelled all over the world, to over 60 countries, but I’ve never been to Norway, although it’s been on my list for ages.

So, I’m really excited about visiting my last Scandinavian country – exploring the culture, traditions, food and meeting the people there.

I’ll be back soon with all of my adventures, and hopefully some photos of the Northern Lights, although I have seen them in Canada a few years ago, albeit fleetingly. See you soon, Karen
